Program Overview

  • Designed for Abu Dhabi government employees who are passionate about coaching and the professional development of others and their careers.

  • The program supports Abu Dhabi in creating a pool of coaches to facilitate the learning journeys of ADSG programs, including the Leadership Programs, General Track Programs, and the Government Employment Charter (GEC).

  • Builds participants’ coaching skills via prestigious qualifications accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC), and the Association for Coaching (AC).

    Provides 60 accredited coach training hours and is registered with ICF. The program has over 9,000 graduates over 20 years, and is delivered internationally in 15 countries.

Program General Info

Government employees with at least ten (10) years of experience in managerial level positions, as well as employees who are passionate in coaching and developing the careers of others.

A four (4)-month learning journey, during which participants will:

  • Attend a session two (2) days per month (seven (7) days total)

  • The certification journey will depend on participants' completion of 100 coaching hours and ICF requirements.

This is a self-nomination program

  • Mandatory seven (7) day attendance of face-to-face development including assessments

  • E-learning between modules, including watching videos/demonstrations.

  • Additional reading of books (optional).

  • 3 x 1-hour facilitated discussions.

  • 3 x 1-hour small group discussions.

  • 2 x 1:1 tutorials with Faculty.

  • Preparation and writing of reflective essay (3,000 words).

  • Preparation of 20 min presentation of coaching model and framework.

  • 30 minute “live” demonstration of their individual coaching model.

  • 2 x practice sessions with coaches assigned by ADSG approximately 6 x 1 hour each during the program.

  • Share examples, knowledge and experience.

  • Actively participate in group activities and sessions.

  • 100 coaching hours with ADSG program learners.

  • 10 hours mentor coaching.

All participants are required to coach ADSG program learners during the program, so as to apply learning, experiment and draw out experience.

  • The program has three modules (2 days each) and finishes with a final assessment day which includes a presentation and a demonstration of each person’s coaching model

  • Seven (7) days in total (mandatory attendance)

  • Between modules, participants are supported by three (3) additional one (1)-hour discussions facilitated by faculty, two (2) one-to-one (1:1) tutorials, as well as small group discussions (mandatory attendance)

  • E-learning provides program materials, videos, downloadable reading and general structured support to ensure progress (mandatory)

  • Participants can only miss one hour during the whole program to graduate with this diploma. Please note that arriving late or leaving early is prohibited and will affect assessment

Participants must complete the required 100 hours of coaching and apply for their ACC on the International Coach Federation website.

The assessment of the essay portion, which is based upon the depth and quality of the learner’s self-reflection and the extent to which the learner has made from their reflections:
- Who is the learner?
- How and what they have learned?
- How do they coach?

  • Learn how to utilize consulting skills in a coaching context.

  • Clarify the boundaries of your personal coaching practice.

  • Explore the nature of personal and professional change.

  • Experience supervised coaching practice.

  • Be alert to both explicit and tacit information and its impact on coaching outcomes.

  • Perform mid-term reviews with client and sponsor.

  • Understand how your own experience of organizations influences your approach.

  • Discuss and practice coaching on a variety of frequent business issues such as.

  • Alignment of goals between individuals, teams and organizations.

  • Career transition.

  • Overcoming poor or ineffective relationships with colleagues.

  • Effective action planning.

  • Provide organizational feedback in a way that respects the confidentiality of the client.

  • Manage the ‘psychology of endings’ providing healthy closure for client, coach and sponsor.

  • Presentation of your unique and developing coaching framework and model.

  • Reflective essay (3,000 words) on your personal learning journey.

  • Live demonstration of your coaching.

  • Recommendation for ongoing study.

Certificate of completion

The Certificate of Completion for this course is awarded by ADSG, along with an AoEC Practitioner Diploma in Executive Coaching Certificate issued by the Academy of Executive Coaching and Associate Certified Coach from ICF.
